    • Surface dirt throughout.

    • Detached covers, flaking and desiccated leather.

    • Loose front endsheets, residue of adhesive on spine edge.

    • Split leather in hinge of spine.

    • Area of loss at top of spine.

    • Loose sewing, break in text block.

    • Loss and abrasion of sewing cords.

    • Dry cleaned throughout.

    • Media testing with water and ethanol.

    • Humidified loose endsheets to separate and removed old adhesive.

    • Reattached loose endsheets with tissue hinges.

    • Faced leather spine to safely separate from book.

    • Removed old adhesive and liner on spine.

    • Reinforced sewing stations and added new spine liner.

    • Lifted pastedown on covers, reattached to text block with overlong liner.

    • Created new spine with tinted moriki, attached under lifted leather on covers.

    • Reattached original leather spine.

    • Consolidated abraded board and leather on covers and tinted to match.
